Instead, the 17-ship line is about to go smaller with its new vessels. Norwegian has no new vessels on order in the size range of Norwegian Encore. But that streak, notably, is about to come to an end. Just about every new ship from Norwegian in recent years has been at least a tad bigger than the one before it. But if you're a fan of big, bustling resorts with every sort of amusement known to humans, and you're open to the idea of cruising, this just might be a new contender for your vacation dollar ( or your points and miles).įor more TPG news delivered each morning to your inbox, sign up for our daily newsletter. If you're that kind of traveler, you probably should stop reading right here. It's obviously not for people who like intimacy in a vacation. Think: Atlantis in the Bahamas, if Atlantis could float. In short, this is another one of those ships that's built to rival the giant resort hotels you see in places like Las Vegas or Orlando. It's also home to nearly 30 eateries, lounges and bars Broadway shows a sprawling spa a casino that fills half a deck and more than 2,000 rooms. Overall, I just think Encore Beach Club has set a high enough standard that every time we end up elsewhere, I'm disappointed even if nothing particularly bad happens.Just how big is it? As I saw over the weekend during a short "preview sailing" in advance of its inaugural voyage out of Miami, this is a ship so enormous that it has room for a go-kart track and a laser tag arena on its top deck, with plenty of room to spare for pools, water slides and a kiddie splash zone. I'm used to questionable quality pool water, with Encore Beach Club and MGM Grand's pools literally changing the color of my swimsuits, but this was egregiously caustic. Then the next time I went there was non-stop splashing and their pool water seemed to be so chemically off that my and my girlfriend's eyes were burning the entire time. The staff meanwhile was saying "He's scheduled to be here later." Even later in the day one staff member finally said "He had cancelled earlier." The island canopy even provides partial shade throughout the day, helping reduce the risk of sunburn. With some venues a cabana is essential to a good time, but with Encore Beach Club the center pool near the island is the best spot in the venue. With Encore Beach Club as long as your group is fine being in the water I see very little reason to bother with a cabana. EBC gets to capacity most days, so a slower day just means it's slower to fill up, hence why when you come determines whether or not you need priority tickets. A significant number of people fly in on Friday, so while Friday night is absolutely busy, Friday day starts out with reasonable lines most of the time. If your group can make it there by 10am-11am just go with regular tickets, if you don't have confidence in your ability to herd your group in a timely manner go with the VIP expedited entry and then you don't have to worry about long lines until about 1:30pm.įridays aren't usually too bad with respect to lines. I'd got to Encore Beach Club with pre-sale tickets. If you feel like your submission has gotten caught in the spam filter, message the mods.
